Overview #
The First to Claim distribution type sends an immediate phone call to all agents included in a routing rule. The first agent who answers and presses 1 to accept is assigned the lead. This option is one of several distribution methods and must be enabled per rule.
Set up the rule #
In Lead Routing settings, choose First to Claim from the Distribution Type drop‑down when adding or editing a rule. Specify call hours using the Only Call Between fields and add agents to the rule. You can include as many agents as needed; the Leads per Round numbers are ignored because all agents are called simultaneously.
Answering and fallback #
Agents who answer the phone hear a prompt to press 1 to claim the lead. The first to accept becomes the assigned agent; the call is logged and recorded. If no agent answers within the call hours, you can configure the rule to automatically assign the lead to the next agent in rotation or a catch‑all user. Calls placed outside of the allowed hours are auto‑assigned to the next agent in rotation.
Billing considerations #
Because multiple agents may answer, each answered call consumes dialer minutes. The standard plan includes 2,500 minutes per month; additional minutes are billed in 1,000 minute blocks. You’ll receive email alerts at 60% and 90% of your monthly allotment and can view usage on the Dialer Billing page.
